Thermal access control helps to keep Covid-19 at bay

We were delighted to be commissioned to install the latest thermal access control for a Proampac in Melbourn recently. The site required included state-of-the-art thermal imaging panels. The entry panels were configured to include non-touch infra-red exit sensors to minimise touchpoints and thereby limit the risk of infection. Not only that, the panels can also record up to 30,000 entry transactions. If the visitor is registered on the company's database the system is able to employ facial recognition before taking their temperature, and it can check whether they are wearing mask, with the option of refusing entry if not. This complex project required us to mix and match various pieces of kit to enable the Face recognition link with the existing access control and intercom system and link them all to the company’s central database, so a great deal of thought was put into the planning and design phase.

As Stuart Drummond, owner of ATL Alarms, confirms, this sort of project is ideal for his experienced team. ‘We were delighted to be involved in this large-scale project because it ideally suits the skillset that we possess within the business,’ comments Stuart. ‘Firstly it required some detailed planning and design, which is one of our core strengths. And secondly we needed to install and set up the system efficiently, and that’s an area in which we excel. Coronavirus has had a huge impact on businesses of all sizes, and creating a system that can give clients the ability to have touch-free access control is a brilliant way of protecting everyone using the premises. Add to that the functionality to test people’s temperature and check for masks and you’re ticking a lot of the boxes regarding Covid-19 compliance. We’d recommend that any business that has a large amount of entry into and egress from their premises to give serious consideration to a system such as this one as it can be a lifesaver.’

It is without hesitation that I pen these lines in praise of ATL Alarms. Ark Academy is an all-through school serving almost 2,000 children from nursery through to sixth form and providing sports facilities, classroom and hall hire to our local community. ATL very quickly sorted out all the problems caused by our previous contractor with little to no disruption to our users and we had no hesitation in recommending them to the main contractor for the installation of the alarms in our new building.

ATL staff are without exception polite, personable and highly skilled. All appointments have been kept on time and where we have needed extra works they have gone above and beyond to ensure we always have a safe environment for our children. I am confident that when I call ATL I will be understood and will easily be able to explain what the problem is – their office staff like their engineers are knowledgeable, helpful and polite.
